How can we engage our students in thinking deeply and broadly?

How do we connect art to what students are learning in school and experiencing outside of school?
THEME: HOME
Where we live or where we feel “at home”
- whether it is a place or in a group of friends and family.
Thomas Dambo is a Danish artist who makes public sculptures and installations out of recycled materials. In his many birdhouse works, he “intervenes” to make homes for urban wildlife. He is also known for his gigantic trolls constructed out of reclaimed wood (Thomasdambo.com)
Do Ho Suh reconstructs the homes he’s lived in around the world. Many are in a silk (or similar cloth) -- a translucent, light and time-honored material. His themes are home, tradition, and memory in a mobile globalized world. Home Within a Home was installed at the international airport. (Lehmanmaupin.com).
